Car Missing?

So, your car is not where you left it… Did it get towed away? What do you do now?

The first thing to do, literally, is to call the police department for the area in which you left it. Here is why….

If it was towed for unauthorized parking- The company that towed it has 2 hours to report the impound to the police department. The police department would know what company has it.

If your vehicle broke down and you left it on the side of the road- the police department follow a process to have a tow company remove the potential hazard from the roadway. The police department would know which company has it

Lastly, if you parked your car and its not there when you return and none of the situations above apply- it is possible that someone has stolen your vehicle. In which case you would want to call the police to report that its missing.

(Irony would be if the person who stole it abandoned it on the roadway after running out of gas and when the officer checks the VIN to request a tow for an abandoned vehicle it would come back belonging to you, in which case- again, the police department would know which company has it.)

When calling the police you will first need the license plate information, the year, make, and model, and will also need to know where you last saw it. After that they will ask you for any other information they may need.

We hope your car never goes missing.

Sincerely, Simple Tow

In any case…. the easiest way to start locating your missing car is to start with one phone call. Or you can start with many phone calls to the over 20 towing companies that service an area and hope that one of them has it.
